Smiltene is creating a unique Latvian Symbol Trail – a cultural attraction designed to immerse visitors in the world of Latvian folk symbols and their meanings. This project is a collaborative effort by Smiltene Tehnikums, Smiltene Municipality, Smiltene TIC, Smiltene Youth Council, and the folklore group Rudzupuķe. The trail encourages Smiltene Tehnikums students to connect, learn about one another, and gain insight into Latvian traditions and values. Open to all visitors, it offers a rich cultural experience and a memorable way to spend time with family and friends.
The Smiltene Technical School working group is involved in the Erasmus+ project “CCC – Culture. Craft. Citizenship,” collaborating with the Smiltene Youth Council and Visit Smiltene on developing a walking trail in Smiltene. Key project dates include:
September 30, 2024: Initial brainstorming meeting to set main goals and connect with Smiltene Youth Council and Visit Smiltene employees.
October 14, 2024: Creative workshop with Smiltene Youth Council and Visit Smiltene representatives.
October 25, 2024: Walking through Smiltene to take photos of buildings and signs.
