Smiltene Technical School hosted three teachers from Siena, Italy, and a student from Turkey as part of the Erasmus+ partnership project CCC – Culture, Craft, Citizenship (“Promoting professional and social inclusion through cultural resources”).

The Italian guests attended a lecture on Latvian symbols, after which students, teachers, and visitors explored the CCC Latvian Symbol Trail, discovering elements of local cultural heritage in nature.

During their stay, the guests learned about Latvian culture and traditions. Together with teachers Vita Audere and Elīna Ozoliņa and several students, they tried their hand at baking traditional Latvian bread and practicing food preservation skills. The workshops took place in a friendly, creative atmosphere where everyone could actively participate.

Project manager Līga Krūmiņa, together with the folklore group Rudzupuķes, introduced the visitors to Latvian folk music, songs, and dances, creating a warm and culturally rich experience.

As part of the cultural programme, the guests also visited Cēsis and later enjoyed a special evening at the restaurant of our teacher H. E. Vanadziņš, where the chef personally presented traditional Latvian appetizers.

Within the project, Smiltene Technical School will host a conference on inclusion and diversity on 30 September 2025. Its aim is to share experiences and promote professional and social inclusion through cultural resources.
